My dojo - Palo alto kendo

Dojo Snapshot
Palo Alto Kendo Dojo, my dojo, located in the heart of San Francisco bay area near Stanford University, was founded by Sakano Jiro sensei (Hanshi Hachi Dan) and Walter Hashimoto sensei (Renshi Nana Dan) back in November, 1987.  Back then there were only four students: Matsueda sensei, Bill Chong, Bill Campbell, and Debbie Herod.  Today, PAKD is one of the largest dojo in Northern California and holds more than 50 kendo enthusiasts of all age.

Location & Schedule
We practice weekly on Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:30 pm at Palo Alto Buddhist Temple, 2751 Louis Road, Palo Alto

6:30 - 7:00 registration and kendo-gi (cloth) change

7:00 - 7:40 announcements, stretch and warm-up exercises

7:40 - 8:00 footwork and other basic drills (without putting men on)

8:00 - 8:45 formal practice for all beginning, intermediate, and advanced groups

8:45 - 9:30 more for advanced group

The above practice routine might not be strictly followed; not for an easier, but a more challenging training.
